Bongani Cigars

Launched in 2016 by former banker Kamal Moukheiber, Bongani is Africa's first cigar brand, symbolizing Africa's excellent potential for growing tobacco thanks to its fertile climate and soil conditions. Developing the local industry, Bongani has recruited and trained Mozambican cigar rollers with the help of Dominican experts, now producing 10,000 cigars a month in three vitolas. Tobacco grown mainly in Mozambique and Nigeria is complemented by Dominican tobacco for a well-burned blend, wrapped in a quality Cameroon wrapper that offers woody, earthy and spicy flavors that evolve in intensity. These even-burning, excellent-draw cigars offer a rich taste experience thanks to the richness of the African terroir.

Origin and evolution of Bongani Cigars

Bongani Cigars represents innovation in the cigar industry with its roots planted firmly on the African continent. Inaugurated in 2016 by Kamal Moukheiber, the brand has become a reflection of Mozambique and Africa's potential to produce quality cigars.

Seeking to combine traditional methods with local talent, the brand has expanded to include expertly-trained workers from the Dominican Republic, establishing know-how equivalent to international standards.

Tobacco growing areas

Africa's rich soils and ideal climate lend themselves to the cultivation of tobacco with character. Bongani uses mainly tobacco grown in Mozambique and Nigeria, supplemented by Dominican tobacco to enhance combustion.

The Cameroon Cape

The wrapper used for Bongani cigars is grown in Cameroon, renowned for its expertise in this field. This greasy, shiny wrapper contributes to the cigar's aesthetic appeal, while also influencing its aromatic profile.

Les Vitoles Bongani

The plant in Mozambique's capital produces three main vitolas - the Bongani Robusto, the Bongani 458 Short and the Bongani 458 Long - with a capacity of 10,000 units per month. Each vitola offers a distinctive experience thanks to its specific dimensions.

Manufacturing and Expertise

Cigar rollers at Bongani have undergone rigorous training, culminating in a landmark graduation in 2017. This training has ensured consistent, high-quality construction for every cigar produced.

Aromatic profile

The flavor profile of Bongani Cigars ranges from medium to full-bodied. It starts with woody, earthy notes, evolves with spicy flavors and finishes with cocoa and spicy intensities, offering a rich, complex experience.

Combustion and firing quality

Bongani Cigars are renowned for their excellent draught and steady burn, ensuring a pleasant, smooth tasting experience from start to finish.

Cultural Impact and the Future

Bongani Cigars, as the representative of African cigars, plays an important role in the recognition of the continent as a significant terroir in the world of cigars. The company combines respect for tradition with innovative approaches to position itself in the global marketplace.

Conclusion

Bongani Cigars demonstrates the excellence achievable through the richness of African soils and the talent of its craftsmen. With its distinctive blends and commitment to quality, the brand represents the rise of cigar culture in Africa, bringing diversity and richness to the international cigar landscape.
